Today we continued discussing "A Rose for Emily" with two songs to aid our discussion. If you want, listen to/check out the lyrics of The Police's "Every Breath You Take" and The Zombies' "A Rose for Emily." We also charted the plot of the story: exposition, rising action, climax, and resolution. You might want to get these notes from a classmate.

 

Finally, students wrote a 6-8 sentence paragraph explaining the title of the story. What might Faulkner have had in mind calling it "A Rose for Emily"? Use text evidence to support your theory. Keep in mind that this paragraph is a rough copy, so don't stress about it. Just get your ideas and text evidence down, and we'll clean it up next week.
