Today was filled with the pesky rumor of a low-key senior skip day. I hope that your absence will be excused. The most frustrating part of these frequent, random skip days is that so many students already miss our college course numerous times for high school-related activities. I'm understanding in this respect, but when students can actually BE in class and they're not, well, I am beyond perplexed. It'd be different, I suppose, if we just sat around and did nothing to prepare you for college writing. But we work hard daily on making you better. Okay, enough venting for now. :) Here's what you missed:
1. We discussed comma rules 9-13. Students completed the rules handout, and we talked about them.
2. Students completed a complete review of commas in groups via a worksheet. They received a completion grade of 100 on this activity.
3. We enjoyed hearing the scary stories from yesterday and discussed how the stories move smoothly from one thought to another. Then we voted, and the winners got candy.
Have a nice, cool weekend. Looks like winter has arrived.
